Erciyes University Agricultural Research and Application Center (ERUTAM) was established within the framework of the Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 25 July 2011 and numbered 280005 in order to gather the research and practices carried out in the field of plant and animal husbandry at our university under a single roof.
Aim of the Center is
- to coordinate the research, application, training and publication activities to be carried out within Erciyes University in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry and food,
- to provide support for the activities such as education, travel-research, internship, projects that are conducted at the relevant academic units,
- to apply and develop modern raising and breeding methods, to introduce them to producers and students and to train them when necessary,
- to establish cooperation mechanisms that will contribute to regional and national development and to create the institutional environment necessary to make them sustainable.
Main Activity Areas of the Center
1. to provide suitable places, materials and services at the university for applied courses, practical studies, internship, thesis and research projects for the associate degree, undergraduate and graduate degree programs of the faculties and vocational schools related to the plant, animal and food production,
2. to follow scientific and technological innovations, to make contemporary basic and technological applications in the fields of animal and plant health, agricultural mechanization, biotechnology, bio-system, bioenergy, soil and plant nutrition and other fields related to agriculture, to support studies in these fields and to produce plant and animal-based food,
3. to carry out breeding studies, to establish the infrastructure that can transfer genes and embryos for the production of qualified breeding animal and plant materials, to establish or contribute to the creation of a gene bank,
4. to cooperate with the university, public and private sectors regarding plant, animal and all kinds of food production, to support and conduct scientific researches with projects or to become a partner when necessary.
Activities and Opportunities to be Carried Out
In our center, support for land, equipment and supplies, labor and technical matters can be provided in order to carry out many researches and applications on plants. For the studies to be conducted in the field of animal husbandry, supports such as animal materials and coops, pens and barns can be provided in broilers (2000 in number) and egg poultry farming (2500 in number), quails (500 in number), sheep raising (500 in number) and dairy cattle raising (150 in number) units.
For the aforementioned activities, there is a land of approximately 4,500 decares in the following location: Central Campus, Mithatpaşa Mahallesi, İncesu-Yavaş.
